this is the 1st time i commented after reading your blog for sooooo long.

i am a Malaysian too currently studying in Australia now. i cried and cried so hard while rewatching this video clip for so many times. but then when i was in Malaysia few months ago, listening to this song didn’t even make me felt oh-so-patriotic. i think only those Malaysians in foreign countries will feel like how we did. i miss my home. so sad. =(

there are many things we don’t like in this country. there are also many things that we can’t change not because we can’t be arsed to do anything but circumstances and social conditions do not permit. but then again, we can eventually come to terms with things, not just blatantly swallow injustice, racism and whatnots but come to a consensus with people regardless of their race (well, race being the most critical social issue in the recent years and these days T_T) because one day, the old racist farts will die off wtf and i believe people in our generation and possibly the future ones don’t find racial disharmony so enticing anymore. i honestly don’t feel the segregation among people in my generation, probably cos we never get to experience the effect of racial wars. it’s like the racial disharmony graph has been volatile but hasn’t reach its breaking point just yet. however i do feel that if those idiots don’t stop testing the water and the patience of many people, it’s really going to be acase of the straw tht broke the camel’s back.

anyway, my sister thinks tht i am too much of an idealist and i’ll find whatever bullshit i believe in, a total deluded falsity that i con myself into believing when i join the workforce. discrimination, racism, TAXES WTF. but like i said, these things are inevitable but not final and eventual. and despite all of malaysia’s shortcomings, there is nowhere i’ll find more than this umbrella of a country so proofed that i actually feel safe getting those protection we all seek for these day but in actual effect, where exactly is safe anymore :/

i know whatever i said may come off as blind patriotism but i always believed in the many things that has been done for us thus far, it will bear the fruit that is unity one day. difficult but not impossible. and i do see the good in people *wishful thinking wtf*. but yes la suet tht is one hell of a clip. oh if yasmin ahmad’s “talentime” ever comes out on dvd you HAVE to watch. it is tres sad damn ncie la the kinda show you’ll love watching cos it’s SO malaysian haha.

i really hope many years down the road, i won’t weep in the face of what i used to believe in. i hate to be proven wrong but at the time being, i don’t mind feeding myself with delusion. i won’t and hope that i will not fled the country for the alleged greener pastures. i hope some day i can tell those who left in hopes for a better country that it was them who were deluded. a friend who’s studying in london once told me, “sigh london has everything. i can’t imagine coming back to malaysia anymore. cos malaysia is so, urgh. london IS everything.” i hope i live long enough to see them crawling back here or see them suffer incomprehensible and ridiculous high tax rates or something more common like racism in the real world. of course, they don’t mind being called bloody asians *sniggers*. I just find their apathetic attitude not palpable at all. like u just want to shake them like a bottle of salt and ask are you fucking kidding me haha.
