Complete Facial Routine

Since I’ve written on my usual makeup routine, I’m going to write on my usual facial routine now! To be honest, I never really cared about taking care of my face and thought make up will just be enough. But now I realize that there’s no point buying expensive makeup to cover your flaws when you can just use better skincare products in the first place. (cue: clouds part and angels play their harps at this magical realization wtf)

Now my skin is very sensitive and dry, just like my mom’s, and I have to be very picky with skincare products. My mom used to buy me a whole range of Shiseido and Dermalogica products and because they’re so expensive, I always used veryyy little of them on my face. Remember how a small sample of Shiseido cleanser lasted me for 4 months?? Yeah I’m stingy like that.

Anyway now that I’m a lot older, I told my mom that it’s up to me now to take care of my skin! And my mission ever since was to look for a skincare range that’s not too expensive for me but good enough for my sensitive skin.

I know this sounds fake but I’m really not lying when Cellnique approached me right at this moment to try out their products and do this write up for them. I was apprehensive at first cause Cellnique’s products aren’t cheap and I still have to replenish my stock with my own money later.

Lo and behold, a solution to my all worries! Cellnique actually has a range of skincare products catered just for stingy and poor student like me! b.liv is a range of salon products where it’s just as good but more affordable for students and young adults. I like the sound of this already!

So they gave me a whole lot of products to try out and I’ve been using them for more than a month now. Let me show you my complete facial routine! I’m without makeup so it doesn’t look that weird that I’m washing my face with makeup on wtf.

Step 1: Cleanser! Very important tip: if you’re using gel cleanser, always foam it up first before washing your face to activate the ingredients in the cleanser. I had no idea that I have to do that until now!

The cleanser I’m using is b.liv’s Drench Me (which is for dry skin)

Then I will massage my face in circular motions and then wash it off. (told you it’s a complete facial routine post! Every single step also must mention)

And then I pull a stupid face at the photographer (optional wtf)

OK I do this next step twice a week (sometimes once a week when I’m lazy teehee). Double mask time!

Step 2: Exfoliate face to remove dull skin! You can only do this once a week cause it’s not good to keep scrubbing your face raw or you’ll be left with no face hahaha *laughs at own joke. You should apply a thicker layer which I did not cause my skin is very sensitive and I can’t exfoliate much.

I’m using b.liv’s Glow and Shine weekly exfoliating mask.

Step 3: Moisturizing mask! Do this twice a week and your face will be so moisturized that water will come pouring out when you touch it!

I’m using Leach Me that will not only moisturize, but will prevent aging and helps to brighten your skin as well! I know it’s a bit of a hassle to do so much but you only do it once a week and think nice healthy skin nice healthy skin nice healthy skin!

Step 4: On days when I don’t do the masks, I slap on moisturizer right after washing my face. I know, look Ma, NO TONER!!! Wheee! I don’t need toner cause the cleanser actually helps to tone as well =D

I really like the moisturizer cause it smells heavenly and it’s thick enough to do the job but light enough to not make me feel like there’s too much on my face.

I’m using Submerge Me, which is also for dry skin. Don’t you just love the names of their products! This also helps to brighten your skin and to prevent aging.

OK LAST STEP!

Step 5: Sunblock!

To be very honest, I actually never used to put on sunblock *gasp in horror. And then one fine day my mom came to me and bestowed the greatest and wisest knowledge mankind has ever been bestowed on, that thou shalt never not put on sunblock unless thou want to live with dark pigmentations for the rest of your life.

Do you know that even innocent-looking fluorescent light at home will harm your skin?
Yeah the conclusion is, you should always apply sunblock even if you were gonna stay at home all day.

I hate applying sunblock cause it’s so sticky but this one is amazing! Look at my hand. Do you see anything shiny or sticky like? No that’s cause the sunblock feels so light, just like lotion.

Love it! But it’s only SPF 25 so I always add on my BB cream which is another SPF 30 if I’m going out.

Oh, and obviously, you can skip step 5 at night, unless you sleep with your lights on lah wtf

All cleaned, moisturized and masked!

Other optional steps:

If you are prone to whiteheads like me, you should try Off With Those Heads! It’s a clear sebum gel that helps to remove black/white heads without having to squeeze your nose for hours.

There’s also Spots Got Shot, a blemish treatment serum for pimples and acnes.

So this is my facial routine everyday! If you want to try out b.liv’s products as well, they’re available at Sasa, Watson’s, Guardian, Alpro and Caring. The price ranges from RM40 to RM140.

Also, b.liv is looking for a new tagline for their products in conjunction with their new packaging relaunch in October. Do visit their website to know more cause you might win b.liv products worth RM12, 500 in total as well :D (Email your creative tagline to blivskin@nuffnang.com)
