Better late than never

Yesterday, I stopped by Audrey’s place to visit baby Fighter for a bit, which has become my favourite hobby these days. Tim came home and we started talking about blogging for some reason, and he tried talking me into blogging again. I got inspired a little but that fizzled out as soon as we ended the conversation. But tonight I’m home alone, and I have Spotify on (bought the monthly subscription – best decision ever!) and I don’t know why but the songs that are playing now are setting a very comfortable and conducive mood to blog. So I guess here I am, finally!

It’s really such a pity that I had to write a whole paragraph to justify why I’m blogging, but it just feels so weird to be writing again after 2 whole months of not doing so. I’m sure those of you who are now taking time off blogging will know exactly how I feel. You know, blogging has consumed a large part of my life since I’ve been blogging since I was 16, and it’s so funny that I couldn’t care much about it now. And when that decline has begun, it’s extremely hard to want to do it regularly again 🙁

Anyway, what’s up everyone? It’s been a pretty good year for me so far, with my new job and new office and somewhat new life. I’m no longer teaching, no longer traveling back and forth for hours every week to my rural school, no longer living in a completely different environment, and honestly, it does take some getting used to now that I’m finally living in KL for the first time in a very long time (4 years in the US, 2 years in Jelebu)

You know, I don’t even know what to blog about anymore! Last time, I could talk about anything I want because I was a student and had no restrictions. Then, I could talk about my experiences as a teacher cos it’s super exciting and I had tons to share. But now that I’m an average person, who is a working professional so can’t be as stupid and silly as before, I really don’t know what to talk about anymore.

That’s one of the biggest reasons why I’ve stopped, but I’m going to try starting again, one step at a time. I actually really love to write, and ever since I’ve stopped, there’s this lingering sense of emptiness trailing behind me and I feel like there’s no way to get rid of that until I actually start writing again.

So yeap, I guess this is a start 🙂 I’m so serious about this that I’m literally putting it down in my weekly goal – to blog at least once every week! Once I start, I’m sure the writing mojo will come flying back!

I finally have my long hair back again! After 4 years of cutting my hair super short, the day is here 😀

I grew up reading your blog and you still remain as my top favourite blogger (tried reading others, but they still don’t come close). For some reason, I really connect with your writing style. I guess as we grow up, we have more things to commit to and gradually our priorities changes. That leave less time for ourselves, and even then we rather spend time with our love ones / recuperate. Thank you for sharing a part of you with me. Glad you’re back, I’ve missed you. x

Hey Mel, seriously when I read comments like yours, it really really motivates me to continue blogging cos it’s such a waste to lose that connection with my readers who’ve grown up with me over the years. and you’re right, my priorities definitely have changed but a huge part of me really wants to get this back. thanks for reading still, it really means a lot to me 🙂

Hey! I grew up reading your blog as well, way back when you were doing the Ribena blogger thing if I’m not mistaken. I’ve been blogging ever since and even now, I’d go back to your archives and reread some old posts (Hahaha you’re very funny you should go reread your own posts!) about the US. When you got involved with Teach for Malaysia, I got inspired as well and worked with a charity club to raise money for them. I’m in uni now and in a way, your posts serve as a guide for what life would be like as I get older so thank you for that! 🙂

Welcome back Suet! Totally know how you feel.

Once you stopped, it’s really hard to get back into it. I used to have a domain and even lapse the payment hence I’m just using blogspot now.

Trying to keep blogging consistently too but sometimes either busy or don’t have the mood to blog. Sometimes pictures are so ugly, especially food. Don’t even know if I should post up and still share. Haha..

The thing which motivates me is… it’s actually a trail I look back to… the trail oh how I’m changing as I grow up. Sometimes kinda paiseh reading all those things I rant about when I was in uni. So true that now we are working adults, there is a kind of restriction to what we can share.

Anyway, I hope you do continue blogging coz I really do enjoy reading your blog 🙂

Hey! I hope you didn’t pay for Spotify. You can get it free listening on your computer. It’s ‘suppose’ to be free on my phone as well but somehow I can’t log in it, but nevermind, I’m always with my computer anyway.

Welcome back, Suet. I miss reading your blog with all your totally-relatable experiences (guess that’s why I’m only posting this comment now). It’s totally true, the part about being so used to things and taking time and effort to start again. I sometimes feel a little lost after 2 years of teaching, now that I’ve become a full-time student again (largely on my own, too). Please keep on telling the world as it is and always be the dynamic, entertaining and oh-so-slightly vain Suet that we all love 😀
